Looking forward to the Sun!

Our Science Topics are Forces and Separating solids and liquids again they will be taught in contexts. Forces will be taught at the same time as the children learn to write explanations in literacy.

Maths
During this term the children will be developing their written skills when adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing. We often start the day with a variety of questions to develop these skills. It is now very important that the children learn those tables and are able to use division facts as well as multiplying facts.
Music
In music we will be studying the instruments of the orchestra. Our singing will revolve around our summer production based on The Wind in the Willows.
Geography
Our geographical study is about improving our local environment and so we will be looking around the school grounds and seeing where we can make a difference.
RE
Our theme will be a study of the Bible.
Literacy
This term the children will be writing stories based on the imaginary world of the Spiderwick chronicles, creating poetry to share with local schools and writing persuasive test.
PE
Your child will need an outdoor kit every Tuesday, as we have a cricket coach, and every Thursday for athletics. The latter will be up to half term when the children will be swimming on a Wednesday morning.
PSHCE / SEAL
Will focus on the theme Good to be Me and will aim to help the children deal with their worries and to be assertive with their friends when necessary.
Homework
Homework sheets will still be given out on a Thursday and due in by Wednesday. Please come in and see us if there are any problems.
What can parents do?
Thank you for your support last term - it made all the difference. Please continue to hear your children read, asking them questions which start to develop their ability to deduce answers.
We hope this is helpful.
Looking forward to seeing you in the class or after school or during our class assembly on 2nd May.
